Spinach and Ricotta Stuffed Shells Recipe

A delightful and comforting dish featuring large pasta shells filled with a creamy spinach and ricotta mixture, baked in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • 12 large jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups spinach, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cooked spinach, ricotta, 1/2 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Fill each pasta shell with the spinach and ricotta mixture.
  5. Spread half of the marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Place the stuffed shells in the dish and top with remaining marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a bit of flavor, add some red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • You can use fresh spinach instead of cooked for a different texture.
