Homemade Gyros Recipe and Gyro Meat

A delicious and unique take on the traditional gyro, incorporating turkey bacon for a healthier twist.

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 pound turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey and chopped turkey bacon.
  3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, and egg.
  4. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  5. Shape the mixture into patties or meatloaf shape.
  6. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Let it rest for a few minutes, then slice thinly and serve.

Notes

  • Serve with pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and fresh vegetables.
  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the mixture.
